SSLC board examination begins in Erode, Salem and Namakkal districts

SSLC board examinations commence in Erode, Salem, and Namakkal, with thousands of students participating across multiple centers.
The SSLC board examinations began in Erode district on Wednesday (March 11, 2026), with 25,279 candidates from 353 schools appearing for the examination at 118 centres.
This includes 24,423 regular students and 856 private candidates. Of these, 706 students, including 683 students with disabilities and 23 private candidates, are writing the examinations with special concessions. A total of 118 chief superintendents, 124 departmental officers, over 180 flying squad officials, and more than 1,700 invigilators have been deployed for the smooth conduct of examinations.
District Collector S. Kandasamy inspected the conduct of the examination at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Manickampalayam, and V.V.C.R. Murugesanar Sengunthar Girls Higher Secondary School. He also facilitated arrangements for a student, Kirthika, who had injured the middle finger of her right hand while preparing to appear for the examination and had undergone treatment at a hospital. Following the Collector’s intervention, permission was granted for the student to appear for the examination through special arrangements.
In Salem district, a total of 40,787 students appeared for the examination, including 20,564 boys and 20,223 girls, at 188 centres. Among them, 647 students are writing the examination with the assistance of scribes. In addition, 1,271 private candidates and 774 candidates with disabilities are also appearing for the examination.

A total of 193 chief superintendents, 40 route officers, 193 departmental officers, 224 flying squad officials, and more than 3,757 invigilators, including headmasters and graduate teachers were deployed for the conduct of examinations. Salem Collector R. Brindha Devi inspected the examination centre at The Little Flower Higher Secondary School.
