SSLC annual exam-1 begins across Karnataka, over 8.65 lakh students enrolled

SSLC annual exams begin in Karnataka, with over 8.65 lakh students participating across 2,871 centers amid tight security.
The annual exam-1 for SSLC students began in 2,871 examination centres across the state on Wednesday (March 18, 2026). On day one, first language Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, English and Sanskrit exams will be held from 10 a.m. to 1.15 p.m.
Ahead of the examination, parents crowded in front of the exam centres while students were engaged with last-minute preparation.
Madhu Bangarappa, Minister for School Education and Literacy visited Karnataka Public School (KPS) examination centre at Malleshwaram in Bengaluru, and welcomed students by offering roses. He also verified the examination arrangements.
The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) is conducting annual exam one for SSLC students. A total of 8,65,988 students have enrolled, including 4,44,172 boys and 4,21,816 girls from 15,941 high schools for the examination across the state.
To avoid malpractices, the KSEAB is web streaming the examination process. All exam centres have turned into fortresses with tight police security. All Road Transport Corporations (RTCs) are also providing free bus service for the students.
