SP MLA Rakesh Pratap Singh resigns from U.P. Assembly alleging non-fulfilment of promises by BJP government

Rakesh Pratap Singh, Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA from Gauriganj constituency in Amethi, on Sunday tendered his resignation from the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, alleging non-fulfilment of promises by the State's BJP government.
Speaking to PTI, Mr. Singh said, "today I met Speaker of U.P. Legislative Assembly Hriday Narayan Dixit and tendered my resignation." Accusing the , Mr. Singh said he had raised some demands and the government had assured him of fulfilling them. However, the demands were not fulfilled.

Bangladesh is witnessing renewed political tension after the killing of Sharif Osman Hadi, a young leader who emerged during the July–August 2024 uprising that led to the removal of Sheikh Hasina. Hadi later headed the radical group Inquilab Mancha and was campaigning ahead of the 2026 parliamentary election when he was shot in Dhaka.
