A dilapidated police check post at Achunthanvayal, which was renovated with modern monitoring facilities, was inaugurated by Ramanathapuram Superintendent of Police G. Chandeesh on Tuesday.
Achunthanvayal village, which borders the Ramanathapuram town, had a police check post with outdated facilities to monitor vehicles entering the town.
As the renovation workers were undertaken at the check post, CCTVs and monitors were installed to monitor vehicles and alert the control room.
The check post, which would operate round the clock in the presence of police personnel on a shift basis, would monitor vehicles entering Ramanathapuram, Rameswaram and Devipattinam, said Mr. Chandeesh.
