
Sony retracts decision to shut PS Store for PS3, Vita, will still shut it for PSP

Sony has decided against its earlier announcement of shutting off the PS Store access for PS3 and PS Vita. The new move comes in response to the feedback received from the PS community upon the earlier announcement.
Sony recently announced its decision to shut down the PlayStation Store access for PS3 and PS Vita devices. Upon further reflection, the company has now decided against the move and will continue supporting the two devices. In an earlier notification to players of PS3 and PS Vita users, Sony said that their access to the PlayStation Store would come to an end this summer. Sony now admits that the decision was wrong and that shutting off the access to the PS store would mean killing a part of Sony PlayStation’s history. In a new blog, Sony Interactive Entertainment President & CEO- Jim Ryan announced the reversal of the decision. “I’m happy to say that we will be keeping the PlayStation Store operational for PS3 and PS Vita devices,” he wrote. The PlayStation Store support for PSP however, will still come to an end on July 2, 2021, as planned.
