Shatrughan Sinha calls NCB's clean chit to Aryan Khan too late, says 'can understand Shah Rukh's pain'

Shatrughan Sinha calls NCB's clean chit to Aryan Khan too late, says 'can understand Shah Rukh's pain'

Shatrughan Sinha said that it was 'too little too late' after Narcotics Control Bureau gave Aryan Khan a clean chit in connection to the infamous drug raid on a Mumbai cruise.

Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was given a clean chit by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Shatrughan Sinha had supported Aryan back in October. And, after he was given a clean chit on May 27, he called it 'too little, too late'. Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was arrested in connection to a drug raid on a Mumbai cruise on October 3, 2021. The raid was conducted by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), led by Sameer Wankhede.

When Aryan Khan was arrested in October, 2021, Shatrughan Sinha said that Aryan Khan was being targeted because he is Shah Rukh Khan's son. He also questioned why people from the industry were taking time to come out in support of SRK. Now, he has reacted to NCB giving a clean chit to the starkid.

Speaking to Bombay Times, Shatrughan Sinha said, "My stand seems to have vindicated now. I did support not only Aryan, but also Shah Rukh Khan. He was paying a price for being - Shah Rukh Khan. This action or reaction of the government is certainly highly appreciated. But then, at the same time, I would like to say that it seems to be too little and too late. All the people involved in framing an innocent boy and sending him behind bars for no rhyme or reason, without any evidence and without any proper investigation must be taken to task with a deterrent punishment. So that in future they might have to think one thousand times before taking such a step."

He further added that he feels NCB officers have maligned their institution's name. He said, "They have victimised Aryan just because he is the son of the most popular actor of India - Shah Rukh Khan. This seems to be politics of vendetta. This is not acceptable, especially by a high profile institution like NCB. I can understand the pain, anguish and the helplessness that Shah Rukh Khan must have gone through.”

The Aryan Khan drugs case was one of the most sensational news of 2021. Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan spent close to 26 days in jail, in connection to the drug case. Post this, he was let out on bail. And now, Aryan has been given a clean chit by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). His name isn’t mentioned on the chargesheet filed by the agency along with four others. Ram Gopal Varma also reacted to the news.

Sameer Wankhede had led the first probe team in the Aryan Khan case. After he was given a clean chit, Narcotics Control Bureau Deputy Director-General said there was an error in the first probe, spearhead by Sameer Wankhede. The Union Home Ministry has now asked a competent authority (Finance Ministry) to take appropriate action against former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) official Sameer Wankhede for his "shoddy investigation" into the Mumbai cruise drugs bust involving Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan, government sources told India Today.
