Vishva Hindu Parishad has claimed that the finding of a shivling inside the Gyanvapi mosque is self-evident that a temple existed at the site.
Vishva Hindu Parishad working president Alok Kumar on Monday said that the finding of a shivling inside the Gyanvapi mosque in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi makes it self-evident that it is a temple.
Advocate Kumar said, “Shivling found in a room during the survey at Gyanvapi mosque is self-evident enough that it is a temple. The shivling was found in the presence of both the parties and their lawyers. Therefore, the place having shivling is a temple."
He expressed hope that everyone would accept and respect this well substantiated evidence found during the survey in Gyanvapi mosque.
"It is the responsibility of the police administration to ensure that there is no tampering and messing about," he added.

On the last day of the video survey of Varanasi's Gyanvapi mosque, a lawyer, Vishnu Jain, claimed that a shiving had been found inside the well. The shivling is reportedly 12 feet by 8 inches in diameter.
Speaking about the shivling to India Today TV over the phone, Jain said that he would go to court to seek its protection. Hours later, the civil court issued an order to seal the area and prohibit entry of people.
