Scuffle breaks out between workers of rival Shiv Sena factions in Mumbai

Workers of rival Shiv Sena factions clashed on the streets of Mumbai on Thursday. The Eknath Shinde faction alleged that workers of Uddhav Thackeray-led Sena disrupted a programme and raised slogans.

Workers of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena and Eknath Shinde faction clashed once again on the streets of Mumbai on Thursday. The Shinde faction alleged that at around 9 pm, workers of the Thackeray-led Sena raised slogans and disrupted a programme following which a scuffle broke out.

The Maharashra Police deployed in the area intervened and dispersed workers of both factions. Later, a complaint was filed against three workers of the Uddhav Thackeray faction at Dharavi police station and an investigation is underway.

Earlier, workers of both factions had clashed outside a party office in Thane. Supporters from Thackeray's group allegedly removed a poster from the party office, which was later replaced with some other posters by cadres of the Shinde camp. This led to clashes between the two groups and the police had to intervene to pacify the agitated workers. Police also locked the Shiv Sena party office.

Meanwhile, the Eknath Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena was dealt a huge blow, with the Bombay High Court granting permission to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena to organise a Dussehra rally at Mumbai's iconic Shivaji Park.

The Mumbai civic body had earlier denied permission to the Uddhav Thackeray faction as well as Eknath Shinde's faction to hold the Dussehra rally on the basis of law and order concerns raised by Mumbai Police.
