The Uttar Pradesh government has provided Y category security to Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief Omprakash Rajbhar. This move by the Yogi Adityanath government is seen as a gift to the SBSP President for voting in favour of BJP candidate Droupadi Murmu in the presidential election.
Rajbhar has recently been in the news for his constant snide remarks about Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav.
The state government has provided Y category security for security reasons. The Ghazipur Police provided security for the leader on Thursday evening on the instructions of the government.
This decision of the government has intensified various speculations in political circles.
In the presidential election, the opposition did cross voting in Uttar Pradesh. Om Prakash Rajbhar had announced that he would vote for Draupadi Murmu at the behest of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Apart from this, Shivpal Singh Yadav also voted for Draupadi Murmu. Four MLAs of the opposition had done cross voting, while the votes of three MLAs were declared invalid.
The SBSP had fought the 2022 UP assembly elections in alliance with the Samajwadi Party. His party contested 17 seats, out of which it won 6 seats. Om Prakash Rajbhar also won the Zahoorabad seat. Om Prakash Rajbhar has been attacking SP chief Akhilesh Yadav ever since the return of the Yogi government in 2022.
