Sardar Udham shows hatred towards British, jury on not sending film to Oscars. Fans are furious
India Today
A jury member explained that Sardar Udham wasn't sent to Oscars as it 'projects our hatred towards the British.' Fans have shown their anger over the statement on social media.
A day after Tamil film Koozhangal was selected as India's official entry for the 94th Academy Awards, netizens took to social media to question the jury's choice. Now, the jury members have explained why they didn't choose Vicky Kaushal's Sardar Udham (one of the most popular contenders) for India's official entry to the Oscars. So Indian kids lathered in poop, begging and fending for themselves in Slumdog Millionaire is more palatable as a representation of Indians. But a realistic depiction of the horrifying acts of British imperialism on our country is problematic? #SardarUdham pic.twitter.com/tQwpYFZ79o The Jury had rejected the movie #SardarUdham as an official entry to Oscar 2020 as "It projects hatred towards the British" !Unbelivable ...A film on Udham Singh and Bhagat Singh and they expect what..to show some bhaichara to the British Rule? So #SardarUdham movie is rejected for Oscar nomination because "the movie projects too much hat!red against the British."But #SlumdogMillionaire movie won Oscars because it had shown India in very good light. Everywhere hypocrisy only. Showing Indian poverty can win Oscars. But showing British treatment towards Indians cannot be even considered for Oscar's. Hats off to your loyic Mr Dasgupta#SardarUdham
