If you are wondering what he plans to do now, the author of Midnight’s Children now wants to publish his future works on the newsletter platform, Substack. Rushdie revealed that he was not aware of Substack until the company approached. He got interested in Substack after he discovered some authors he knew and admired, also writing for the platform. In an interview with The New York Times, Rushdie confirmed venturing into digital publishing with Substack. Rushdie, who has authored books like Quichotte, The Satanic Verses, Midnight’s Children and many more, said that he will publish serialized fiction and possibly a few essays, they will be up on the platform for free initially. However, he revealed that he will eventually charge ($5 or $6 a month) to unlock them.
