India Today
Salman Khan and Rani Mukerji’s Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye turns 21 today, November 17. The film was inspired by the romantic comedy, The Wedding Singer, starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore.
It’s been 21 years since director K Muralimohana Rao gave us the Indianised version of Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore’s The Wedding Singer, titled Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye. The film starred Salman Khan and Rani Mukerji in lead roles and many other talented actors in underdeveloped and unnecessary supporting roles. As the film clocks in 21 years of its release today, November 17, we tell you why it’s a painful watch that won’t tug at your heartstrings, but kill your brain cells.
In Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye, there is a poor guy with a heart of gold. Since it’s a Salman Khan film, the guy’s name is Prem. He sings at weddings and dreams of his own wedding to Nisha (Raveena Tandon). Meanwhile, we meet Priya (Rani Mukerji), who drills her dream of an arranged marriage into Prem’s and our brains again and again.
