YSRCP State coordinator urges leaders to prepare for local body elections, focus on party strengthening and counter coalition government.
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) State coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy has exhorted the Parliamentary constituency observers to strive for victory in the local body elections scheduled to be held on May 19 by having effective coordination with district presidents and the grassroot-level leaders.
In a call with the leaders on Saturday, Mr. Ramakrishna Reddy said the YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had clearly defined the roles from top to bottom and they were expected to work diligently to strengthen the party with due priority to staging a comeback in the next general elections.
Mandal committees were to be constituted by the end of May, village committees by July, and booth committees by October, with the aim of enrolling 18 lakh members and giving them ID cards by the end of the year.
Mr. Ramakrishna Reddy said the YSRCP leaders should properly counter the leaders of the coalition government with regard to its failures, and promised all possible support on behalf of the party in their fight.
Meanwhile, former Minister Sake Sailajanath launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for promising quality liquor at low prices while ‘‘fostering corruption and mismanagement’‘ in the liquor trade.
He stated in a press release that the coalition government has turned the liquor trade into a diversionary tactic to distract the people from its failures, and alleged that there has been a spurt in the number of belt shops in the villages. He challenged the government to prove Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s alleged role in the liquor scam.
