
Rural innovator’s automatic street light control device gets go ahead for pilot project

Rural innovator Shashidhar's automatic street light control device approved for pilot project in Telangana, enhancing public safety.
An automatic street light control device conceived by rural innovator Shashidhar with support from Telangana Innovation Cell (TGIC) has received approval for a pilot project.
Mr. Shashidhar’s innovation has secured an order for the pilot project to be implemented in Mahadevpur mandal of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district. District Collector has given approval for the project with a cost of ₹3,500 per unit. The Mandal Parishad Officer (MPO) will oversee the implementation of this project which aims to enhance public safety and energy efficiency, TGIC said in a release on Tuesday.
Scouted by TGIC under its flagship programme ‘Intinta Innovator’, Mr. Shashidhar has received mentorship and support, including technical validation from NIT Warangal. Subsequently, he established his enterprise Evolution Vishwakarma Solutions.
“The innovation is proof of the power of grassroots innovation. His solution addresses a real-world problem and has the potential to significantly impact rural communities”, Chief Innovation Officer of TGIC Ajit Rangnekar said.
It is truly exhilarating seeing his innovation come to life after seven years of hard work. “I hope this inspires young innovators to dream big and persevere, knowing that their dedication will eventually pay off,” Mr. Shashidhar said.
He was nominated by TGIC to showcase his work in at atleast 10 exhibitions, including the ODOE program with NABARD and the International Startup Festival. His success story highlights the significant impact that organisations like TGIC and Palle Srujana can have on empowering rural innovators and fostering sustainable development, the Innovation Cell said.
