Rocketry star R Madhavan turned down Suriya's Ghajini. Here's why

In an Instagram live session, R Madhavan revealed that he rejected Suriya's Ghajini. The actor hosted the live session with his friend Suriya.

R Madhavan is enjoying the success of his recently released film, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. Recently, he hosted an Instagram live session with his best friend Suriya. During the live session, Madhavan said that he had rejected Ghajini as he wasn't impressed with the second half of the film. Later, Ghajini was offered to Suriya and it became one of the biggest blockbuster hits.

Madhavan made his directorial debut with Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. He hosted an Instagram live session with actor Suriya. For the uninitiated, Suriya played a cameo role in Rocketry. He appeared as himself in the film.

During the live session, Madhavan said that AR Murugadoss had offered him Ghajini, which he rejected as he didn't like the second half of the film. He said, "I told AR Murugadoss sir that I didn't like the second half of the film. Ghajini went to many heroes and finally came to you. I was very happy. I had seen you in Kaakha Kaakha and felt that Ghajini had finally gone to the right person."

He then appreciated Suriya for working hard for his role in the film. "I watched how hard you worked to get your six-pack abs. I felt ashamed as I became complacent after giving a few hits. I remember that you had not consumed salt for a week to maintain your physique. Seeing the hard work you put in, I questioned myself and felt that I wasn't doing justice to my career. It is only after that I started applying the advice that I had given you. After Ghajini, your career catapulted," Madhavan added.

Directed by AR Murugadoss, Ghajini features Suriya, Asin, Nayanthara, Pradeep Rawat and Riyaz Khan in lead roles. The film follows the story of a man who suffers from short-term memory loss. The film became one of the biggest blockbusters in 2005. Later, it was remade in Hindi with Aamir Khan reprising Suriya's role.
