Republic Day celebrated in districts
Collector Ranjeet Singh honouring a freedom fighter at the Republic Day celebration in Theni on Monday.
Patriotic fervour and gaiety marked the 77th Republic Day celebrations in Dindigul district. Collector S. Saravanan on Monday unfurled the national flag.
The Collector inspected the guard of honour presented by Police, Fire and Rescue Services and Home guard personnel in the presence of Deputy Inspector General of Police (Dindigul Range) P. Saminathan, Superintendent of Police A. Pradeep, District Forest Officer Naga Satish Gidijala and others.
The Collector honoured the freedom fighters and their family members. Welfare Assistance to the total tune of ₹92 lakh was provided to a total of 12 beneficiaries under government various schemes, including assistance to the differently abled persons.
A total of 450 government employees from various departments were recognised for their services and felicitated at the event. A total of 95 police personnel were recognised for their services and presented with medals and certificates. Cultural events were held as part of the Republic Day celebrations.
