Realme 9 Pro Plus will use MediaTek Dimensity 920 chipset, launch soon

Realme said that the 9 Pro+ will be one of the first few phones to come with a MediaTek Dimensity 920 processor, which will enable 5G connectivity on the upcoming phone.

Realme 9 Pro+ will be among the first few phones to use the MediaTek Dimensity 920 processor, the company has announced. The Dimensity 920 is one of the high-end processors and also the successor to the Dimensity 900. It also brings 5G support for the Realme 9 Pro+, making it fall in line with what Madhav Sheth, Realme India’s boss, said a few days back. He said that both the Realme 9 Pro+ and 9 Pro will be 5G phones, but did not reveal anything else.

“The upcoming realme 9 Pro+ will support 5G networks and will be one of the first smartphones to adopt the MediaTek Dimentsity 920 5G Processor,” said Realme.

I have used the Dimensity 900, as well as the Dimensity 800 and the Dimensity 700 processors, on earlier Realme phones and found them fast and consistent enough for the price of the phones having them. So, my expectations of the Dimensity 920 are a little higher, especially because it will come as a higher-end processor in the company’s mid-range lineup. For you, it should mean better speeds than what phones like Realme X7 Pro can offer.

Realme still has not revealed a launch date for the 9 Pro series in India. This means that the launch may still be a few days away and the company may oust a few more details about the upcoming phones in the meantime. But leaks have already informed us that the design of the Realme 9 Pro+ and 9 Pro will be similar to that of the 9i.

In other news, Realme secured the third spot in the fourth quarter of 2021, managing an annual growth of 49 per cent - the highest in the chart. Realme emerged as a big winner in Indian smartphone shipments, with a 17 per cent market share in Q4. The biggest driver of sales are Realme’s 5G phones, such as the Realme 8s, which offer good value for less money. Other smartphones in the company’s portfolio, such as Narzo 50A and C11 also contributed massively to this tremendous growth of the brand.

In the global scenario, the latest data released by market analyst firm Counterpoint Research showed Realme was the fastest-growing 5G Android smartphone brand globally in Q3 with robust growth in India, China and Europe. “Realme was able to out-grow the market with its 5G smartphone sales growing 831 per cent YoY compared to the global growth rate of 121 per cent,” said Realme.
