In a new interview, Ranveer Singh confirmed that there are plans for making Simmba 2. The actor said that this film was always designed to be a franchise.

After the success of Singham 1 and 2, Rohit Shetty extended his cop universe with Simmba. Released in 2018, the director delivered a box office hit with Simmba, which featured Ranveer Singh in the titular role alongside Sara Ali Khan. Right after its thunderous success, Shetty announced the fourth film in his cop franchise, Sooryavanshi, which was released in November 2021. However, fans have been eagerly waiting for Simmba 2! So, here's some good news. In a recent interview, Ranveer Singh confirmed that Simmba 2 is on the cards.

Opening up about Simmba 2, Ranveer Singh told Film Companion, "I will be very dissapointed if there isn't a Simba 2. Simba deserves a reprise. He is one of my favourite guys. Actually, Simba was always designed to be a franchise. So, whenever Rohit (Shetty) bhai calls, I will be there. But, there will be a Simba 2. It's one of my favourite movies and also my favourite performances so far. I will do it because I love it so much."

Simmba is an action-packed film directed by Rohit Shetty and jointly produced by his production house, Rohit Shetty Picturez and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The blockbuster was the third instalment in Rohit’s cop movie franchise. The film follows Simmba, a corrupt police officer, who works for Durva, an influential smuggler. However, his life takes an unusual turn when he decides to avenge a woman who was assaulted by the smuggler’s brothers. Simmba is a remake of Telugu film, Temper, starring Jr NTR.

Ranveer Singh will be seen next in Cirkus, which marks his second collaboration with Rohit Shetty. The film is an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s The Comedy Of Errors. Besides that, he is currently busy promoting Yash Raj Films' Jayeshbhai Jordaar. Ranveer also has Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani in the pipeline. His last big screen release, 83, turned out to be a box office dud. The Kabir Khan-directorial was based on the Indian Cricket Team's 1983 World Cup win.
