Rambo Circus returns to Visakhapatnam this weekend with new acts and daring feats

A kaleidoscope of lights, gravity-defying stunts and theatrical wonders — Rambo Circus is all set to captivate Visakhapatnam on February 15 and 16 at Gurajada Kalakshetram. With a troupe of 35 skilled artistes, the circus is reinventing itself with new acts to keep the magic of live entertainment alive.
Not too long ago, circuses came to Visakhapatnam under large canvas tents called ‘big tops’. With the changing urbanscape of the city, circuses have moved towards performing in theater-style stages. “While we continue to do tented shows in many cities, with evolving times we are bringing in the same charm of circuses in stage performances as well. This time there are a lot of improvements in the show with added visual elements and new performances that will elevate the experience,” says Sujit Dilip, managing director of Rambo Circus.
From the daring ring head balance to the breath-taking aerial bicycle, the line-up this year promises to be a visual spectacle. Audiences will witness the thrill of the sky walk, where acrobats defy fear and physics, and the German wheel, a high-energy act that combines agility and athleticism. Adding a whimsical touch is the bubble show, bringing in a blend of art and science.
To make up for the absence of animal, Rambo Circus is bringing animal costume performances, featuring characters like giraffes, gorillas and zebras in an effort to keep the spirit of the classic circus alive.
Founded in 1991 by Panachamootil Thomas Dilip in Pune, Rambo Circus was born from a merger of three circus troupes — Erina Circus, The Great Oriental Circus, and Victoria Circus. Over the years, it has adapted to changing times. The 30-year-old circus company has toured extensively across India and West Asia, under the leadership of its managing director Sujit Dilip who continues to push the boundaries of circus entertainment. This year, Sujit Dilip, a second-generation circus owner, added another feather to his cap by representing India as a jury member at the 47th Monte Carlo Circus Festival in Monaco. Sharing the stage with the world’s best, he reinforced India’s presence in global circus artistry.
