Rajpal Yadav's brother Chandrapal hopes for acche din as actor walks out of jail

Rajpal Yadav's brother, Chandrapal, spoke to the media about his brother's bail. He said the family is hoping to see better days in the near future after the actor was granted interim bail by the Delhi High Court until March 18 in a cheque bounce case.

Actor Rajpal Yadav's brother Chandrapal Yadav expressed relief after the Delhi High Court granted interim bail to the actor in a long-standing cheque bounce case amounting to Rs 9 crore. The relief was granted on Monday, allowing Yadav to remain out of jail until 18 March 2026.

The decision comes shortly after Yadav surrendered to the authorities over the unpaid debt, and he had spent more than a week in Tihar Jail. The case relates to a loan he took over a decade ago, which he failed to repay, leading to a series of court proceedings against him.

Speaking to the media outside the court, Chandrapal said, "Humme kissi se koi shikayat nahi hai. Jo bhi din the woh humare din the, ab humare acche din aane wale hain. Abhi bas yehi kahenge (We have no complaints. Whatever days we had, our good days are yet to come. That is all we will say for now)."

The Delhi High Court suspended Yadav’s sentence until the next hearing and permitted his release from Tihar Jail. Visuals of Chandrapal Yadav interacting with the press circulated on social media, reflecting the family's sense of relief. When questioned about whether Bollywood had offered support, Chandrapal replied, "Yeh sab bhaisahab hi batayenge (My brother will speak about this)."

Yadav in 2010 had taken an amount of Rs 5 crore from Murali Projects Pvt Ltd, a Delhi-based company, to finance his directorial debut Ata Pata Laapata. The film was released in 2012 but failed at the box office. Yadav was unable to repay the loan, resulting in a court dispute that continued for years.

In 2018, a Magisterial Court convicted Yadav and his wife under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, after seven of his cheques bounced. He was sentenced to six months’ simple imprisonment. A Sessions Court later upheld the conviction, which led Yadav to appeal to the Delhi High Court. By 2024, the outstanding amount had reached Rs 9 crore.
