Pro-Kannada activists protest near Vidhana Soudha amid Karnataka-Maharashtra row

Pro-Kannada activists tried to gherao the Secretariat building over their displeasure at the burning of a Kannada flag and the targeting of Kannadigas in Belagavi and across the border.

With MES and Shiv Sena activists continuing to target Kannadigas and Kannada-owned businesses in Belagavi and across the border, pro-Kannada activists organised a massive protest near the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha.

They planned to gherao the Secretariat building but were stopped by the police who put up barricades. The protesters are displeased at the fact a Kannada flag was burnt and Sangolli Rayanna’s statue was desecrated.
