Prithviraj Sukumaran is thrilled about the release of his second directorial venture, Bro Daddy. Taking to Instagram, he spoke about being an accidental director and making a film with an ensemble cast.

Prithviraj Sukumaran made his directorial debut with Mohanlal's Lucifer. His second venture titled, Bro Daddy, is all set to release on Disney+ Hotstar on January 26. Hours ahead of the film's release, Prithviraj shared a poster of Bro Daddy on Instagram and called himself an accidental director. In his caption, he spoke about making a film with Mohanlal and an ensemble cast, how he equipped himself for Bro Daddy, among other topics.

Prithviraj and Mohanlal reunited once again for Bro Daddy after their successful first collaboration, Lucifer. The shooting of the film commenced in 2021 in Hyderabad during the Covid-19 pandemic. Bro Daddy is a slice-of-drama centered around a family.

Ahead of the film's release, Prithviraj wrote, "In more ways than one, I’m an accidental director. Although I’ve always wanted to make my own films, my debut directorial happened because #MuraliGopy thought I should helm #Lucifer. He believed in me before anyone else. Much the same way, #Sreejith and #Bibin came to me with the script of #BroDaddy through our mutual friend #VivekRamadevan. I’m still not sure why they thought I’d be the right person to come to for this project, but I’m glad they did! (sic)."

He then spoke about how Bro Daddy is in stark contrast to Lucifer. "As a film, #BroDaddy is as different as anything can be from #Lucifer and that’s what made me want to direct it. It needed me to rethink completely and attempt a language of film making that will be far far away from #Lucifer or #Empuraan. Like always, I thought it’s a very exciting risk to take, and I did! (sic)," read his caption.

Here's his post:

Prithviraj then thanked actor Mohanlal and producer Antony Perumbavoor for believing in him and trusting him. He also thanked the cast and crew. The Kuruthi actor requested his followers to watch Bro Daddy with their family members or friends.

Bro Daddy is a comedy drama directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and produced by Antony Perumbavoor. The film's screenplay is written by Sreejith N and Bibin Malliekal. The film stars Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Unni Mukundan, Meena, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Lalu Alex, Kaniha, Soubin Shahir and Mallika Sukumaran in key roles.
