PM Modi tweets about decision to charge fee for 50% private medical seats same as govt colleges

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that the decision to charge fee for 50 per cent private medical college same as government colleges, has been announced to help poor children.

Lack of medical seats in government colleges and skyrocketing fees at private colleges have propelled students to take options for studying abroad. Amid the ongoing evacuation process of Indian students from war-torn Ukraine, the government in India has announced that private colleges will have to provide 50% of their seats at the fees of government colleges.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday took to Twitter to affirm that the decision to charge fees of 50 per cent seats in private medical colleges at par with government medical colleges will benefit the 'poor and middle class'.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said:" A few days back, the government has taken another big decision, which will benefit the poor and middle-class children.”

“We have decided that half the seats in private medical colleges will be charged at par with government medical colleges,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi added.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) issued an office memorandum a few days ago, mentioning the decision of 50 per cent private college and deemed university seats at the price of medical college seats. Further, the announcement was made that it will be effective by the next academic session.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) guidelines state that the fees for 50 per cent of seats in private medical colleges and deemed universities should be on par with that of the government medical colleges of a particular state will be effective from the next academic session, official sources said on Wednesday.
