PM Modi reaches Nepal to take part in Buddha Purnima celebrations at Lumbini

PM Modi reached Lumbini in Nepal to participate in the Buddha Jayanti celebrations to be held at the Mayadevi temple today. He will also hold talks with Nepal's Prime Minister, Bahadur Deuba, about hydroelectricity and development before returning to India today.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Lumbini, Nepal, to participate in the Buddha Jayanti celebrations at the Mayadevi temple on Monday, May 16. The Nepalese Prime Minister, Bahadur Deuba, has invited the Indian Prime Minister to participate in the festival. Lumbini is the birthplace of Gautama Buddha.
“I look forward to offering prayers at the Mayadevi Temple on the auspicious occasion of Buddha Jayanti. I am honoured to follow in the footsteps of millions of Indians to pay reverence at the sacred site of Lord Buddha's birth,” said Narendra Modi ahead of his departure to Nepal.

This is Narendra Modi's fifth visit to Nepal as the Prime Minister of India. Upon reaching Lumbini, PM Modi tweeted, "Landed in Nepal. Happy to be among the wonderful people of Nepal on the special occasion of Buddha Purnima. Looking forward to the programmes in Lumbini."
