PM condemns UAE attack, thanks President Al Nahyan for taking care of Indian community

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the UAE President on Sunday amid an escalation in the US-Israel-Iran conflict. PM Modi said India supports de-escalation and regional peace, security and stability.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday strongly condemned the recent attacks on the United Arab Emirates and expressed solidarity with the Gulf nation, even as he thanked President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for taking care of the Indian community living there.
In a post on X, Modi said he spoke with the UAE President and conveyed India’s support during the difficult period. “Strongly condemned the attacks on the UAE and condoled the loss of lives in these attacks. India stands in solidarity with the UAE in these difficult times,” he said. The Prime Minister added that India supports de-escalation and regional peace, security and stability.
The outreach comes amid escalating tensions in the region after Iranian strikes across the UAE over the past two days left three people dead and 58 injured, including an Indian national, according to officials. Over 3.5 million Indians reside in the UAE.
The Indian Embassy in the UAE said it is in touch with hospital authorities regarding the injured Indian. “The Indian national is out of danger. We are rendering all possible assistance,” the mission said in a social media update.
Authorities said the injured included expatriates of several nationalities such as Pakistani, Nepalese and Bangladeshi citizens. The UAE Defence Ministry also reported intercepting a large number of incoming threats, saying it destroyed 152 of 165 ballistic missiles and shot down 506 of 541 Iranian drones.
Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the US Consulate in Dubai have advised their personnel to continue sheltering in place.
