People of all faiths rejecting communal politics of BJP, says CWC member Gidugu Rudra Raju

Former PCC president Gidugu Rudra Raju criticizes communal politics, emphasizes Congress Party's commitment to secularism and religious harmony.

Congress Working Committee member and former PCC president Gidugu Rudra Raju on Friday (April 18, 2025) said that the common people would not accept communal politics and it was evident with the wide-spread support from the Hindus also for the Muslims’ massive agitation organised on amendments to Waqf Act on April 16 across Andhra Pradesh. He said that the Congress-backed agitation caught the attention of the people.

Speaking to The Hindu over telephone, Mr.Rudra Raju said that the people understood that only Congress Party would protect secularism.. “The Congress Party always wants religious harmony in the society. Its secular philosophy in accordance with the principles of the guidelines ensured co-existence of people of all faiths in the country. But the BJP-led NDA government at the Center is indulging in communal politics by targeting Muslims and other communities with its decisions,” he added. “Fortunately, The Hindu community understood the ill motive of BJP and its frontal organizations. Certainly, they will reject communal based politics being promoted with the misuse of social media platforms,” said Mr.Rudra Raju.

He alleged that the Enforcement Directorate filed chargesheets on oarty’s senior leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in National Herald case, just a day before the Waqf agitation (April 16) to divert the attention of the public over the Waqf issue. Mr.Rudra Raju said that Rajiv Gandhi family’s clean image was known to everyone as they had been serving the public without enjoying power since 1989.
