Pawan Kalyan appreciates Vissakoderu village for solving drinking water problem on its own. In a post on X, the Deputy Chief Minister says the village has emerged as a role model for others by undertaking repairs to the dysfunctional scheme and two filter beds, and laying new pipelines with the funds released by the 15th Finance Commission.
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayat Raj & Rural Development (PR&RD) K. Pawan Kalyan said in a post on X that Vissakoderu in West Godavari district emerged as a role model for other villages by solving its drinking water problem on its own.
Mr. Pawan Kalyan said the village got the dysfunctional drinking water supply scheme and two filter beds repaired and had new pipelines laid by utilising the funds released by the 15th Finance Commission.
He observed that there was no development in the villages in the last five years as the Panchayat Raj system had been undermined and the funds provided by the Union government diverted for other purposes.
However, the villages started to get a facelift after the NDA formed the government in June 2024, he added.
The State government gave the villages the much-needed autonomy and provided them funds required for various developmental works. Officials of the PR&RD Department were focused on taking the villages forward, he said.
Vissakoderu sarpanch Bolla Srinivas said another drinking water project costing ₹20 lakh was being set up, and it would be inaugurated after the conduct of the MLC elections.
