Flying Squad Team seizes whistles, ‘manjappai’ bearing TVK name in Thoothukudi
The Flying Squad Team has seized 350 whistles and 1,000 yellow cloth bags (Manjappai), on Monday, bearing the name of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, containing peanut candy and other items from a carton box in a van in Bryant Nagar area. It was later handed over to Thoothukudi South Police, sources confirmed.
The Flying Squad and Static Surveillance team also seized ₹5.81 lakh in unaccounted cash, under Thoothukudi Assembly constituency.
Since the model code of conduct came into force for the upcoming Assembly elections, flying squad and static surveillance team have been conducting vehicle checks at various locations in Thoothukudi.
An election official said that during a vehicle check near Roche Park, a static surveillance and a flying squad teams seized ₹4,50,000 and ₹56,580 respectively from different persons. In another check conducted by a flying squad team near Annammal College, the officials seized ₹74,800. As the individuals could not produce necessary documents to account for the cash, the amounts were seized and handed over to the treasury.
Officials said that amount would be released from the treasury after submitting rightful documents.
