The Delhi Parents Association has called out Manish Sisodia's claims of no fee hike in Delhi schools after arbitrary fee hikes were alleged in top schools.
The Delhi Parents Association (DPA) on Monday called out Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia's claims that Delhi schools were not allowed fee hikes without written permission from the government.
Parents alleged that after schools reopened after a protracted closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic, two major private schools in the national capital hiked their fees arbitrarily. After a two-year closure, the city's schools returned for physical classes on April 1.
"Two top private schools have increased the fees. The recent statements by Delhi's education minister in which he falsely claimed that private schools in Delhi have not increased fees in the last many years are all a lie," DPA President Aparajita Gautam said.
"The affected parents running from pillar to post to raise their concerns about the fee hike have not been heard by the education minister or the DOE (Directorate of Education)," she added.
Both institutions' administrations declined to comment on the matter.
"The Delhi BJP has extended support to the Delhi Parents Association and will be organising a peaceful protest on Tuesday," Gautam said.
Several parents have claimed that transportation expenses have increased by up to 30% in the majority of schools.
