Over 56% cases of crimes against women in Rajasthan fake: CM Ashok Gehlot

Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot said that over 56% of criminal cases against women in Rajasthan were concluded as false.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot commended the services of Rajasthan Police and stated that crimes in the state have decreased over the years. CM Gehlot said that nearly 56 per cent of criminal cases against women in Rajasthan were concluded as fake during the probe. The chief minister also said that nobody had the right to tarnish Rajasthan's image in relation to safety for girls and women.
"Rajasthan Police is doing a wonderful job, crimes in Rajasthan are less compared to other states. The atmosphere is changing even inside the police station. It is a very revolutionary decision to make compulsory FIR. This revolutionary step should be done in every state of the country," CM Gehlot said.

He stated that the opposition parties ran rumours that rape occurred frequently across the state of Rajasthan and that the crime rates had increased too. He asked his critics to refer to the government agency NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau) and the criticism should be based on facts and correct data.
He referred to the survey wherein Rajasthan tops the list in instances of rape, and said that the report also listed a 'Rise in crime' and an 'increase in registration of cases by police', which are two very distinct categories.
"After reading that (NCRB), they will stop speaking because it is written in the first paragraph that every state has a different situation," he said.
"Who commits rape incidents? Most of the incidents are committed by relatives or acquaintances of that girl. About 56 per cent of the criminal cases registered against women are false cases. Such people should not be abandoned. Such cases tarnish the image of the state in the country," the Rajasthan CM underlined.
