Over 3 kg of ganja seized, five booked in two separate cases
Over three kilograms of ganja was seized in separate cases by the State Task Force (STF) under the Telangana Excise and Prohibition Department on Friday. Two individuals were arrested while three others were booked in connection with illegal drug sale.
In the first operation, officials arrested Sanjay Singh, who was found with ganja in Jiyaguda locality of Puranapul. The team seized 2.078 kilograms of ganja along with a two-wheeler used in the transaction.
A case has also been registered against three others believed to be involved in the supply chain - Thakur Ashish Singh, Laxman Singh and Neeraj Rai.
Further investigations are underway to trace their exact roles in the network.
In a separate operation, another team carried out raids in Moosapet, JP Nagar and Bharat Nagar areas.
During the raid, 1.2 kilograms of ganja was recovered from Kompally Yashwant Sai Shanmukha, a resident of East Godavari district.
Investigation revealed that the accused had previously operated a business, which he shut down before taking up illegal drug peddling. He used to travel to Araku to procure ganja and was distributing it in Hyderabad while staying with relatives. The produce and the accused were handed over to Balanagar Excise Station officials.
