A new report indicates that 59 per cent of Indian adults have been a victim of cybercrime in one way or another in the past 12 months. These victims have collectively spent 1.3 billion hours trying to resolve these issues. The report comes as a part of new findings by NortonLifeLock. In its 2021 Norton Cyber Safety Insights Report, the cyber safety major surveyed more than 10,000 adults in 10 countries for the results. The findings included responses from 1,000 adults in India. The report indicates that out of the 1,000 respondents in the country, 36 per cent of Indian adults detected unauthorized access to an account or device in the past 12 months. Over 2 in 5 Indian consumers (around 45 per cent) have experienced identity theft to date. Around 14 per cent of these victims were impacted in the past year alone. This means over 27 million Indian adults experienced identity theft in the past 12 months, the report states.
