The Oscars are upping security ahead of the March 15 awards show, amid concerns of a retaliatory strike from Iran.
News of increased security at the high-profile event follows reports that the FBI has warned California authorities of a potential attack from Iran on the West Coast. The U.S. and Israel launched a war on the Middle Eastern country in early March, and the conflict has since spread throughout the region.
"Every year we monitor what's going on in the world," Raj Kapoor, an executive producer of the show, said during a March 11 press conference, per People. "We have the support of the FBI and the LAPD, and it's a close collaboration. This show has to run like clockwork. But we want everybody that is coming to this show, that is witnessing the show, that is even a fan of the show when they're standing outside the barricades, we want everybody to feel safe and protected and welcome, so it's our job as a producing team to make sure that that translates."

"It's something that we don't take lightly and we take a lot of responsibility for, so we hold it very dear and close to our hearts," Kapoor continued, adding that the Academy Awards have the "best teams in the business in all aspects," and "that comes down to our security team."
