Bengaluru police commissioner warns against fake news and rumours, instructs staff to monitor social media for misinformation.
Taking strong exception against fake news peddlers and rumour-mongers about the ongoing ‘Operation Sindoor’ and related developments, Bengaluru city police commissioner B. Dayananda has warned of strict action against such people.
Speaking to the media after the monthly service parade at CAR south on Friday (May 9, 2025), Mr. Dayananda said that he had instructed the divisional heads and the staff to be alert and monitor social media to contain rumour mongering.
Due to such rumours, people have resorted to hoarding essentials, he said.
He further requested that the people should restrain from believing rumours and fake news being circulated on social media. There is a general alert regarding the development and necessary precautions and security cover has been taken up, he clarified.

After being repeatedly disrupted for three consecutive days over issues ranging from the Governor’s address and alleged disrespect to the national anthem to demands for the resignation of the Excise Minister, among others, normalcy finally returned to the Legislative Council on Friday, with proceedings commencing.
