Officials stop construction of Mahadwara, Tippudwara in Uttara Kannada to avoid communal conflict

The construction of a temple gate and Tipu Sultan gate at Bhatkal town in Karnataka’s Uttara Kannada district was stopped by police officials over fears that it could result in a communal conflict erupting in the region.
Police officials have stopped the construction works of Mahadwara (temple gate) and Tippudwara (Tipu Sultan gate) in Uttara Kannada over fears of a communal conflict erupting between the two groups.
The Mahadwara versus Tippudwara controversy erupted in Bhatkal town in Karnataka’s Uttara Kannada district after preparations began to construct the two gates opposite each other.
Officials have stopped the works of both the gates to avoid a communal conflict between the two groups.
The construction of the temple gate was undertaken under the leadership of MLA Sunil Naik and the Muslim community had raised strong objections to this.
After this, the preparations to construct a Tipu Sultan gate opposite the temple gate were also put on hold by officials to avoid a communal conflict in the region.
