The Odisha Central University has signed a MoU with Forum for Integrated Development and Research to establish a digital tribal literacy centre.
On Thursday, the Central University of Odisha(CUO) announced a partnership with the Forum for Integrated Development and Research(FIDR) to build a digital tribal literacy centre. An official release by the Central University of Odisha informed that a memorandum of understanding was signed by the CUO Registrar Asit Das with the research and development organisation for three years in a virtual programme on Wednesday.
The university, which is situated in the Koraput district, will offer a digital literacy programme to students from tribal and marginalised communities, according to acting Vice-Chancellor SK Palita.
The acting VC added that this will be done with the support of the R&D institute.
Explaining how the programme is going to be beneficial for students, the acting VC said that it will help them acquire digital skills and make them self-employed over time.
Whereas, the FIDR Director Charudatta Panigrahi said that, "The proposed centre will fulfil required soft skill education of the region and will boost economic empowerment of youths."
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the establishment of the digital literacy centre during the CUO's 13th foundation day celebration on August 29 last year.
