
Odisha Anganwadi Centres to resume from March 28 with strict adherence to Covid-19 norms

The anganwadi centres in Odisha will be reopening from March 28 with strict adherence to the Covid-19 protocols.
A senior official stated on Wednesday that Odisha’s Anganwadi Centres(AWCs) will be reopening on March 28 as Covid-19 cases significantly declined in the state. The official added that the district administration had been directed to take the decision to reopen the Anganwadi Centres, considering the local Covid-19 situation.
A letter by the ICDS and SW Director Arvind Agarwal stated that the AWCs will be open for 25 days a month from 7.30 am to 9.30 am.
The letter further directed the collectors to ensure the strict following of Covid-19 protocols.
In case children are unable to attend the AWCs, the rations to be distributed under the supplementary nutrition programme are going to be delivered at their doorsteps, the letter added.
The AWCs in the state of Odisha have been shut since April 19 because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ration and eggs were provided for pregnant and nursing women, and children up to 6 years at their doorsteps during this period.
Guidelines were also issued by the Women and Child Development Department which asked for the ensuring of social distancing while serving morning snacks and meals to pre-schoolers (3-6 age group).
