The Delhi government’s Department of Education (DoE) issued a circular on November 12, announcing that the admission process for nursery, kindergarten, and Class 1 in the city’s private schools for the 2025-26 session will begin on November 28.
First list out on Jan. 17
The last date to submit registration forms is December 20, and the first general admission lists will be published on January 17, next year, it also stated.
The key criteria listed by many schools are neighbourhood, distance, proximity to schools, girl child, and single girl child, among others.
Some schools have also listed criteria for minority students, economically disadvantaged groups, and parents with physical disabilities.
Private, unaided recognised schools are using a point-based system for the selection process in which specific points are marked for meeting various criteria ranging from 30 to 100.

The Union and State governments provided support in several ways to the needy people, but private institutions should also extend help, especially to those requiring medical assistance, said C.P. Rajkumar, Managing Director, Nalam Multispeciality Hospital, here on Saturday. Speaking at a function to honour Inspector General of Police V. Balakrishnan and neurologist S. Meenakshisundaram with C. Palaniappan Memorial Award for their contribution to society and Nalam Kappom medical adoption of Type-1 diabetic children, he said the governments implemented numerous welfare programmes, but the timely help by a private hospital or a doctor in the neighbourhood to the people in need would go a long way in safeguarding their lives.
