Now Accenture delays onboarding fresh hires to 2023, techies worry about career gap

Indian IT companies including Accenture Wipro, Infosys and Tech Mahindra are delaying the onboarding process of fresh graduates. Accenture reportedly confirmed hiring in April but is delaying the onboarding till 2023.

After Wipro, Infosys and Tech Mahindra, now Accenture is also reportedly delaying the onboarding process of the new hirings. According to reports, freshers who got the offer letter from the company earlier in the year are still waiting for their onboarding. The company has seemingly postponed the dates of onboarding till 2023. A recent report by Businessline reveals that many fresh graduates got offer letters from Accenture in April last week. While the company has approved all the documents and has done the hiring formalities, the freshers are still not onboard by the tech firm. "I received my (Accenture) offer letter in the last week of April. My onboarding is being pushed time after time, the latest date was September 30 and now it has been pushed to somewhere in 2023," an engineering graduate told Businessline. Meanwhile, freshers have also reached out to the placement cells of their college but have received no encouraging word. The delay in the overboarding is also creating a career gap which is creating anxiety for graduates.Earlier, there were similar reports on the delay in onboarding at big tech companies like Wipro, Tech Mahindra, HCL, and Infosys. Due to the ongoing slowdown in the IT industry worldwide, tech companies are tightening their belts. To cope with the market slowdown, many companies are freezing hiring, restructuring their teams and even asking their working employees to manage with exciting resources. Even tech giants like Google, Facebook and Microsoft have put a hold on their new hiring and are looking towards cost-cutting to manage the situation. The Indian companies are planning around the same. They are delaying the onboarding process of new recruits by 3-4 months.Even for global tech giants, the situation seems to be quite dire. Reports note that big tech companies have fired thousands of employees this year. Startups in particular have been hit hard as they battle to squeeze in easy money while the central banks around the world increase interest rates. But not even big companies are unaffected. Just a day ago we heard reports that Facebook is planning to let go of around 12000 employees that it believes aren't productive enough.
