Rajpal Yadav surrendered at Tihar Jail after the Delhi High Court denied his plea for more time in a cheque-bounce case. The actor admitted to facing financial difficulties, saying he has no money to repay and must handle the crisis on his own.
Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav opened up about his financial struggles after surrendering at Tihar Jail in a cheque-bounce case, saying he had no money to repay the amount and saw no other way out. He also admitted that he must face the crisis alone, adding that there were no friends to turn to for help.
Yadav surrendered at Tihar Jail in Delhi on Thursday after the Delhi High Court refused his plea for an extension. The court’s decision came after the actor failed to comply with an earlier directive, making it clear that the law applies equally regardless of professional status. Yadav, whose surrender had been ordered for February 4, sought additional time but was denied relief.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama about his situation, Yadav explained his financial difficulties, saying, "Sir, kya karoon? Mere paas paise nahin hain (sir, what to do? I don’t have the money to pay back). Aur koi upaay nahin dikhta (can’t see another way out)."
When asked if he had considered seeking help from colleagues or industry friends such as Priyadarshan, who has frequently collaborated with him, Yadav responded, "Sir, yahan hum sab akele hain (sir, we are all on our own over here). There are no friends. I have to deal with this crisis on my own."
Tihar Jail officials confirmed his formal surrender, stating that the actor appeared before the Jail Superintendent around 4 pm shortly after the High Court’s order was issued. The surrender followed the court’s explicit instruction: "In these circumstances, this Court finds no merit in the plea of the counsel for the petitioner to recall its order directing surrender of the petitioner (Rajpal Yadav) before the Jail Superintendent, Tihar. He is directed to surrender the Jail Superintendent, Tihar, immediately today," the court ordered.
Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, who presided over the case, strongly criticised Yadav for missing the February 4 deadline set in the February 2 order. The High Court declined to recall its previous direction and emphasised that his professional background did not justify special consideration.
