No delivery, no entry: Gurugram society cracks down on maintenance defaulters

Gurugram's Uppal Southend society publicly names maintenance defaulters and warns of service bans. The move boosts payments, with daily recoveries rising, even as residents remain divided over strict enforcement.
A residential society in Gurugram has taken strict steps against residents who have not paid their maintenance dues, putting up their names at the main gate and warning of service restrictions.
The action comes from the Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA) of Uppal Southend society on Sohna Road, where hundreds of homes have pending payments amounting to lakhs of rupees.
As part of the crackdown, the RWA has displayed a list of defaulters at the society entrance. It has also warned that services such as maid entry, car washing and food delivery may soon be blocked for those who fail to clear their dues.
RWA General Secretary Anil Anand said the move was initially meant as a warning but will now be enforced. “So far, this was only a warning. Now we will implement it,” Anand said, adding that long-pending dues have made it difficult to manage the society’s expenses.
The decision follows a General Body Meeting held on February 8, where residents demanded stricter measures to recover unpaid maintenance. The RWA said it had earlier issued notices and appeals, but many residents did not respond.
The society houses around 1,000 families. While some residents cleared their dues after their names were displayed, many still remain on the defaulters’ list.
