
3 IIT students killed as car loses control, overturns on Mumbai-Pune Expressway

Three IIT students were killed and one critically injured after a speeding car lost control and overturned multiple times on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
Three students lost their lives while one was critically injured in a road accident on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway on Thursday.
The accident took place on the Mumbai-bound lane near Khalapur. According to preliminary information, a Volkswagen Polo travelling from Pune to Mumbai was allegedly at high speed when the driver lost control near Khopoli. The vehicle overturned multiple times, leaving it completely mangled.
Four students were travelling in the car at the time of the crash. Three of them died on the spot, while the fourth sustained critical injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Khalapur.
The deceased have been identified as Omkar Borse (22) from Nashik, Lay Bhatt (23) from Nagpur, and Shreyash Sharma (22) from Jaipur. All three were students of IIT Powai in Mumbai. Their bodies have been kept at MGM Hospital in Kalamboli for post-mortem.
The accident briefly disrupted traffic on the busy expressway. Highway police rushed to the spot, cleared the wreckage, and restored traffic movement. A probe has been initiated to ascertain the exact cause of the crash.
