A mother's testimony helped a lower court to sentence her own son to life imprisonment in a murder case in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly. The verdict was delivered by Additional Sessions Judge Tabrez Ahmed on Thursday (March 19).
The accused named Chhatrapal had attacked his father with a sickle on April 11 last year, following a quarrel over 10 bighas (roughly 60 acres) of land. Unfortunately, he died en route to a nearby hospital.
The victim, described as fearful by nature, had not transferred the land to anyone, which led to frequent disputes with his son.
During the trial, the prosecution presented seven witnesses, including the victim's brother. The mother testified against her son, stating she did not wish to see his face again and identified him as her husband's murderer.
