New Hyundai Tucson India launch in second half of 2022
India Today
Hyundai has confirmed that the new generation Tucson, already on sale in North America and Europe, will be launched in India in the second half of 2022.
Hyundai has announced that the new fourth-generation Tucson SUV will be launched in India in the second half of 2022. As is the case with the version currently on sale, the Tucson will be positioned above the Alcazar in Hyundai's lineup and will rival the Jeep Compass, Citroen C5 Aircross and Volkswagen Tiguan.
The new Hyundai Tucson sports a radical new design language with elements like the LED DRLs seamlessly merging with the front grille. The exteriors of the new Tucson are certainly very eye-catching and this design language is set to trickle down to its smaller siblings like the Venue and the Creta once their respective facelifted versions arrive. While the version sold in Europe has a 2,680mm wheelbase, the one sold in North America has a longer wheelbase at 2,756mm. We're expecting Hyundai to bring the latter to India, as the extra legroom in the second row will attract those looking to hand the car over to their chauffeur.
The cabin too is thoroughly modern, complete with a digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch central infotainment screen. While the exact specifications and features of the new Hyundai Tucson are yet to be confirmed, it is expected to get advanced driver assistance or ADAS features as well.
In terms of engine options, the Tucson might carry on with the same 2.0-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel motors. While that is yet to be confirmed, what is certain is the fact that there will be both petrol and diesel variants with manual as well as automatic transmission choices and an AWD variant is likely to be offered as well. When launched, it will become Hyundai's flagship ICE offering. We say ICE specifically because the Ioniq 5 crossover is also coming to India in 2022 and that will be more expensive than the Tucson.
Commenting on the announcement, Unsoo Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, “As India’s No. 1 SUV brand of CY2020 and CY2021, Hyundai is geared up to induce customer delight and excitement with the introduction of our global best-seller the all-new TUCSON. Hyundai has been the pioneer of many technological firsts and the all-new TUCSON is set to thrill SUV buyers with Intelligent Technology, Futuristic Design, Unmatched Safety and Smart Innovations. TUCSON has captivated the hearts and minds of customers across the world with over 7 million units sold globally since its launch in 2004. With a bold and dynamic appeal and advanced features, the all-new TUCSON will captivate the aspirations of customers in India.”
