NCW takes cognisance of assault on woman in Alipurduar, summons SP for case update

NCW has taken cognisance of a news report, which mentioned that a woman was paraded naked and beaten up brutally. NCW has also summoned Alipurduar SP on June 16 to take an update of the case.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken cognizance of a news report, which stated that a woman was paraded naked and brutally beaten up in Alipurduar, West Bengal. The Commission has also directed SP Alipurduar district to appear virtually before NCW on June 16 at 12:30 pm to apprise of the status update in the matter. The NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma has written to Virendra, DGP, West Bengal to direct police to take immediate action for the arrest of all the accused.
