With torrential rain leading to landslides, Nainital has been cut off from the rest of Uttarakhand. Rescue operations are underway.

One of the country's most popular tourist destinations, Nainital, has been cut off from the rest of Uttarakhand after heavy rain led to a series of landslides on Tuesday. As many as 35 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said.

Many people are feared trapped under the debris after landslides razed many homes to the ground, especially in the state's Kumaon region.
