Mumbai police arrest eighth suspect in Rohit Shetty residence firing case, linking the incident to the Shubham Lonkar gang.
A joint team of the Mumbai Crime Branch and the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the firing incident at the residence of film director Rohit Shetty. The arrest brings the total number of accused held in the case to eight.
The accused, Pradeep Sharma, alias Golu, a resident of Mahavir Nagar in Agra, was apprehended in the Bah area of Agra district on March 21. He was produced before a local court and handed over to the Mumbai Crime Branch on transit remand.
According to the police, Mr. Sharma was influenced by social media posts attributed to the Shubham Lonkar gang and decided to join the group. During interrogation, he disclosed that he had previously been involved in a shooting incident in Rajasthan. On May 28, 2025, he allegedly opened fire at a residence in Nagaur district. He was arrested in that case with a pistol and was subsequently jailed.
The police stated that Mr. Sharma had been changing his locations frequently to evade arrest. Technical surveillance and intelligence inputs led the joint team to his hideout in Bah. A cordon was established on March 21, and he was taken into custody.
The firing incident occurred at Mr. Shetty’s building in the Juhu area of Mumbai on the night of February 1. Police said that five rounds were fired, with one bullet striking the glass of the building’s gymnasium. A case was registered at the Juhu Police Station.
Seven other accused were arrested on February 15. Among them, five are residents of Bah, Agra. They have been identified as Deepak (24), Sunny (23), Sonu (23), Ritik (22), and Vishnu Kushwaha (26), all residents of Vijauli under Bah police station limits. The other two arrested were Jatin Bhardwaj (24) of Gautam Buddh Nagar and Vishal (25) of Etawah.
