Tragic building collapse in Bhadrachalam, Telangana due to unauthorized construction, prompting a massive rescue operation.
An under construction multi-storey building collapsed in Telangana’s temple town of Bhadrachalam on Wednesday afternoon, trapping several persons beneath the rubble.
At least four persons were feared trapped under the debris of the building that came crashing down around 3.30 p.m. in the heart of the temple town.
Police and the State Disaster Response and Fire Services Department personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation to clear the debris using heavy earth moving machines.
Sources said that unauthorised additional construction on the existing old building and inferior quality of construction materials led to the mishap.
A massive rescue operation is under way at the site of the building crash. Senior officials of the police and revenue departments are closely monitoring the rescue operation.
