Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Member of Parliament Kota Srinivas Poojary on Friday, directed M/s Adani Total Gas Ltd., (ATGL) that has license to provide piped natural gas for households and compressed natural gas to automobiles to immediately set up a mother station in Udupi.
Speaking at a meeting convened by Deputy Commissioner T. K. Swaroopa to discuss issues of short-supply of CNG for automobiles in Udupi district at Rajatadri, district office complex in Manipal, Mr. Poojary reminded the company representatives their promise in the last meeting to this effect.
As ATGL was yet to open the CNG mother station in Udupi, mobile CNG cascades (transporting vehicles) have to fill CNG at Gail Gas Mother Stations in Mangaluru, spending considerable time and money. As an immediate measure, ATGL should augment the present fleet of 17 mobile cascades, he said.
The MP noted that hundreds of people, including autorickshaw drivers and other working class, were affected because of short supply of CNG at dispensing stations. He cautioned ATGL to set right the issue immediately.
Echoing his views, Ms. Swaroopa asked ATGL and GGL to work in coordination to address CNG short supply issue in Udupi district. The number of people using CNG in the district was increasing and hence the companies should augment supply, she said. The DC told GGL to give priority to fill mobile cascades of Udupi district at their mother stations in Mangaluru.
Kundapura MLA A Kiran Kumar Kodgi, representatives of ATGL and GGL, autorickshaw drivers Unions and others were present.
