A mother and daughter died in an accident involving a truck near Perumbakkam while on their way to school.
A 35-year-old woman and her teenaged daughter were killed after a truck ran over them near Perumbakkam on Tuesday (March 10, 2026).
Tambaram Police said Lavanya was a resident of a multi-storey apartment in Perumbakkam. On Tuesday morning, Lavanya was taking her 13-year-old daughter Iniya, who was studying in class eight of a private school in Medavakkam, in a two-wheeler to drop her off at the school.
As she was proceeding on Nookampalayam Main Road, her vehicle hit a speed breaker and both of them fell down from the vehicle. A heavy truck laden with bricks, which came behind the two-wheeler, ran over them. In the accident, the mother-daughter duo was killed on the spot. The driver of the truck left the vehicle and fled the scene.
Pallikaranai Traffic Investigation police sent the bodies to Government Chromepet Hospital for post-mortem and are on the lookout for the truck driver who went absconding.
